Scott Mills: Ex-Officio and GLAM Music Director
Scott Mills received his B.S. in Music from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. After graduating, he taught for several years in the public school system directing children from 6th to 12th grade. The choirs he led ranged from classical choral ensembles to swing choirs. He also participated in civic theatre as a vocal director, stage director and lead performer in such musicals as Into the Woods, Hello Dolly, Funny Girl and George M.
After moving to San Francisco in 2000, Mills joined the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus (SFGMC). After a couple of years, he created and led an SFGMC ensemble, Vocal Minority. Vocal Minority performed in many SFGMC concerts as well as the GALA Choruses Festival in Montreal in 2004. After returning from Montreal and hearing about youth choruses developing all around the world, Mills felt it was important to create such a group here in San Francisco. "Children have such an amazing energy to work with and when focused on singing can bring amazing life to music. This is why I went into teaching in the first place." He hopes to bring fun and excitement to an already strong and enthusiastic group of young musicians.
